Mornings are becoming chilly while daylight hours are changing along with the colors of the leaves on the tree. The signs of fall are everywhere. As harvest season approaches, it brings with it all the signature desserts that have become cultural staples here in Michigan as well as in many parts of the northeastern United States. One of our favorite fruits harvested in the fall is apples. Did you know that apples are one of Michigan’s largest and most valuable specialty crops? Michigan is ranked third in the nation in apple production which contributes up to $900 million to the state’s economy each year. While there’s nothing quite like a good, juicy apple picked fresh off the tree in an orchard, over half the apples harvested are processed into other products. Come join us at Crust and together let’s make one of Michigan’s favorite fall treats… apple dumplings!
We invite you into our kitchen for an afternoon of baking fun. While here, you’ll learn how to make and bake six apple dumplings along with crème anglaise (vanilla custard sauce) and caramel to use as toppers. A marriage of delicious fall flavors rolled into six sweet treats!
This class will be led by a CRUST baker who will take you down the path of excellent culinary instruction and advice. Along the way, our baker will give you a bunch of tips and tricks to take your baking skills to the next level.
Class sizes are limited so we can be in the kitchen with each student, giving them the personal time and instruction needed to learn more about pastry arts! Our goal is to inspire your inner baker, to teach you a ton about traditional baking methods, and most importantly to make sure you have loads of fun while participating!
So, come join us for an afternoon of baking fun to help kick off fall’s harvest season.
Participants will leave class with:
1) Six apple dumplings
2) Crème anglaise sauce
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
• An apron and a rolling pin.
• If you have long hair, please bring a hair restraint.
• A smile, an open-mind, and the excitement to learn!
We understand and expect that each student will work at different speeds. We ask that you are courteous to your classmates and have patience. We have limited the class size to be sure everyone will get the time and instruction needed to have a safe and fun class!

**When your ticket is purchased, your name will be added to a class roster. This roster will be given to retail. This is where you will check in and wait for class when you arrive. Our baker will come greet and lead you to your class.
